We’ve all been there; feeling exhausted from everyday problems and kids, we forget to spend quality time with our significant other. Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to go out and celebrate your love! I have already written about the romantic restaurants that Bergen County has to offer, and  here are some date night activity ideas to help you plan a perfect night:

Paint and Sip!

If you haven’t done a paint & sip class yet, it’s probably because you have zero painting skills like me. When I say zero, I mean NONE. Especially growing up with an artist and designer sister, admiring her talents, I gave up on trying to improve my art skills. But I decided to give a paint and sip class a try, just to embarrass myself and have fun along the way. And look at the result:

The instructor at Uptown Art Studio in Westwood did such a great job guiding us through the process and made it so much fun that paint and sip class became one of my most favorite date night activities. I also love Pinot’s Palette in Ridgewood. Oh, also just in time for Valentine’s Day, a new Paint and Sip Studio opened in Tenafly. Grab a wine and your lover’s hand, and go paint together!

Go to a Comedy Show

They say laughter is the best medicine. Spend the date night laughing, enjoying the drinks and each other’s company! If you go to New York City, Comedy Cellar is my absolute favorite place! There are some great comedy clubs in or near Jersey too, such as Levity Live in Nyack, Bananas in Hasbrouck Heights and Scotty’s Pub and Comedy Cove in Springfield Township. Have fun!

Take a tango class

Skip salsa or bachata, what’s more romantic than tango; pressing your body together, passionately moving to the powerful, yet gentle rhythm? I absolutely love Hudson Dance Studio in Edgewater and they offer a free first class! Another great dance studio is Ventura Dance Center in Closter. It’s not as crowded as Hudson Dance Studio and the instructors are phenomenal.

Go on a Spa Date

Want to experience Hawaii in New Jersey? Go on a spa date! Relax, while you get a massage in a couples’ suite or indulge at a private whirlpool at The Fountain Spa in Ramsey.

CGI Holistic in Closter is another wonderful spa that’s a hidden gem. There are a variety of massage and facial options to choose from. You can also buy a one-day pass that grants access to the ionized pool, dry and steam saunas, yoga classes and the gym.  You will feel like you’re at a fancy resort somewhere in the Caribbean!

Take a private tennis class

If active date nights are your thing, then how about playing tennis together? You can rent a court, racquets and balls at a tennis club. If you’re a beginner couple, you can take a private tennis class with an instructor. Tenafly Racquet Club is an excellent facility with top-notch courts and staff. Maywood Tennis Club is another favorite! If you’re in Northern Jersey, then Match Point Tennis Club in Orangeburg, NY might be a better option for you. Playing tennis together is a lot of fun and once the endorphins  kick in, you’ll fall in love with each other all over again.

Escape the Room!

Want an adventurous date night, where you team up to solve a puzzle to get out of the room? In this cool game, a few people are locked in a themed room and must work together in order to escape using the puzzles, clues, locks and challenges to solve the mystery! Some of the cool places in Bergen County to experience this game are Escape the Room in Hackensack, Quest Zone in Ridgefield and The Other Tales in Hawthorne. Happy escaping!
