Best French: Patisserie Florentine

10 N Dean St, Englewood, NJ

This is my all-time favorite brunch spot! If you, like me, are not a big fan of iHop style breakfast, where everything is in big portions with lots of sugar and fat, then you’d love this small bakery in Englewood! It feels like you are in Paris, taking a bite of your almond croissant, sipping caramel pear tea. Their eggs Benedict is to die for! Most of the food is served with salad, which is a healthy bonus. OMG and their baked goods!!! I could write another article about each one of their crunchy and delicious pastries!  Arrive around 9am to avoid the wait.

Best Ethnic Breakfast: Marmaris Cafe

Turkish Breakfast at its best. Photo by Marmaris Cafe

If you have never had Turkish breakfast, you are missing out! First of all, Turkish bread is so good, you will want to keep coming back for it. Second,  the breakfast includes a little bit of everything, different cheese types, olives, honey, jams, hard boiled egg, butter, cream… So you get to have a very nutritious and diverse breakfast. Third, if you order a side of ‘menemen’ – tomato and egg mixed and fried together, like Israeli shakshuka, your taste buds will definitely be partying from wide arrange of flavors that you just experienced!

Best Diner: Tenafly Classic Diner

This place gets really busy on weekends and it’s worth all the hype. As you can guess from the name, this is a standard American style diner with bacon and hash potatoes that are dellllicious! I’ve tried their omelettes many times and they never disappointed!

Best pancakes: Maywood Pancake House

92 West Pleasant Avenue, Maywood, NJ

Their pancakes and waffles are out of this world! If you are more into savory options, then they always have a wide variety of omelettes and eggs Benedicts too! Lots of vegan options as well! Very family friendly, full tummy guaranteed!

Celebrating a special occasion with a brunch? How about a breakfast buffet and bottomless mimosas? Cornerstone in Hillsdale offers both! Go enjoy and thank me later!

Bonus: Istanbul Borek and Kebab

Guysss, guyssssss!!! My latest discovery is this hidden gem restaurant called Istanbul Borek and Kebab House (not so hidden among the Turkish community, because it’s always packed). If you have never had borek, Turkish layered dough pastry, filled with cheese, potatoes, meat or spinach, you are seriously missing out!! Get in your car, drive to Cliffside Park and order the Turkish breakfast platter with borek (my favorite is potato borek). OMG! I died and went to heaven. End of story.
