Cresskill in a nutshell:

Cresskill is a historical town with great schools, lovely people, a few restaurants and a supermarket, and is located close to major highways.

8 things to love about Cresskill:

1. Restaurants/cafes

I live in Alpine and love the fact that we are so close to Cresskill. This town offers some of the most delicious restaurant options, such as Turkish restaurant Samdan, Delvina, the Italian eatery, C U Latte, my husband’s favorite coffee shop, where you can get delicious organic latte while you chat with the friendliest owners, Farmhouse Cafe, which is famous for their farm-to-table concept, delicious breakfast and rustic design.

Oh, and for special occasions, Keremo Cakes in Cresskill is everyone’s go-to cake stop. They recently were on Cake Wars and I wasn’t surprised when they won. Their cupcakes are to die for!

2. Rich with recreation activities, outdoor movies, concerts and more…

If you live in Cresskill, you have all the means to stay fit and healthy. There are bunch of outdoor fields for sports, which are open to Cresskill residents. There are 3 soccer fields (Ackerman, Cook and Regan Fields), 3 baseball fields (International, 12 street and 3rd street Baseball Fields), 1 football field (Coughlin) and 1 softball field (Merritt). There are 2 basketball courts (3rd street behind Cook field), 3 tennis courts (3rd street next to Community Center) and Friday Night Open Gym operated by Community Center for Cresskill residents only. Cresskill Swim Club is where the families hang out in hot summer days. There’s both adult and children’s pools.

In summer evenings, there are movie nights and outdoor concertsAll you need to do is just show up with your blanket and popcorn!

3. Gorgeous Parks

Cresskill has some of the most beautiful parks and fields for a morning jog, dog walk or just an evening stroll. It also has a few playgrounds for children (where I take my son for playtime). The locals love Cranford Park, Terhune Park, Carolyn Schultz Park, Moschella Parks and the 12th Street Park.

4. School system

Most of the families choose Cresskill because of its great schools. Greatschools rated Cresskill school system 9 out of 10. Merritt Memorial School serves kids from pre-K to 5th grade and has 10/10 Greatschools ratingCresskill High School‘s student graduation rate is 100% and the student:teacher ratio is 9:1.

5. Affordable houses & townhomes

Cresskill can accommodate people of wide variety of budgets, for example, you can buy a renovated house for $400k. If you want to spend millions, no problem, I have dozens million-dollar listings for you! Currently, the houses in Cresskill range from $400k to $10mm.

6. History

Cresskill was the home of Camp Merritt during World War I and it was a major debarkation point for more than a million American troops being sent abroad to fight. The Circle Monument, a large obelisk memorial at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Knickerbocker Road, commemorates this history.

7. Paid fire department

In 2012, Cresskill went on to hire daytime firefighters to respond to emergencies during the day. In past, they’ve had a shortage of firefighting responders during the daytime and have struggled at times to respond to emergencies, which could be extremely dangerous. But now, with a combination of salaried and volunteer force, Cresskill is safer than ever before!

8. Easy Access to New York City

It takes 40-45 minutes to get from Cresskill to Midtown Manhattan. The NJ Transit bus 166, also Rochland Coaches routes 14 and 20/20T all provide service to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Saddle River Tours / Ameribus provides rush hour service to the George Washington Bridge Bus Station on the 20/84 route.
